I will try to keep this updated with my progress of building an printing with the RepRap Mendel. I was given the frame about 6 years ago (2013) and haven’t touched it until now. This is what I have done…
I wrote this up at hackster.io. This is my design and workings of putting together a CD/DVD CNC Plotter.
So I have had a Monoprice Select Mini 3D printer for about a year now and I have printed a lot of things. It has been a work horse until recently, I noticed that the heated bed was no longer working. Along with the temperature reading was spiking and inconsistent. So, I put it away for a while (Since I recently got a new toy, CNC router)
I recently got it back out and fixed the wires – but only after one print, the wires snapped again.
This time, I re-routed the wires around the outside. [See Video below]
Some other references on the matter:
I downloaded and 3D printed a universal economic micro CNC plotter. The video below shows my attempt to draw ‘TEST’
Did a Facebook live of the 3018 CNC router cutting out a U shape in the dowel rod.
After updating to Windows 10 (1809), I realized that Microsoft did not have a download for RSAT 1809. They highest version was 1803. Here, I will share what I had to do to get RSAT on Windows 10 1809.
Microsoft Moved RSAT to Optional Features
In the Settings of Windows, go to Apps, then Manage optional features.
Here you can select the RSAT apps that you want to install.
After clicking install, the ‘page’ will refresh. If the app that you ‘installed’ reappears, then it wasn’t installed. (See ‘Turning Off UseWUServer’ below)
If it disappeared, then it installed. **You may have you reboot for it to show in your Windows Administrative Tools folder**.
Turning Off UseWUServer
If you notice that everytime you select to install an RSAT Optional Feature, it reappears. Then you may need to turn off the UseWUServer. To do this:
Change the registry value to from 1 to 0 for “UseWUServer” at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU.
Restart the wuauserv service. Then retry installing the RSAT Optional Features.
Checking Installed RSAT Services
Open PowerShell as an Administrator and run
Get-WindowsCapability -online | ? Name -like Rsat* | FT
